Anyone here who stayed invested for decades?

I am not a Boglehead, but I identify as Bogle-curious. I have been invested in Berkshire Hathaway since 1998 and never sold a share. I am curious if any people here were invested in S&P 500 or similar indices for decades without selling or major changes to their allocations? Was staying put difficult for you, especially around collapses like 2008-2009? Thanks
